If you wear a collared shirt and a tie to school, you show that you are more grown-up, and possibly want to go into business. If you wear athletic clothes, you show that you are into sports. If you wear all black you show sadness. If you wear bright colours, you show excitement. The list goes on and on. You can tell people who you are, what you feel, and maybe even what you are thinking, simply through your clothes. Person-ally, I think that school uniforms completely kill this form of self-expression (самовыражение). |

In my opinion, while school uniforms can seem dull and limit personal freedom, they also have benefits. It's a convenient and easy choice in the morning. It can reduce competition and prevent students from being bullied. However, it's also important for students to be creative and develop their own style. Perhaps a less strict dress code that allows for some individual expression is the best solution.
